Hi, I’m Karen
My love of jewelry-making began in high school when I took my first silversmithing class. I instantly fell in love with the craft. I’ve always been drawn to all kinds of art, but what captivated me about jewelry was the idea of creating something beautiful that could be worn and enjoyed.
I went on to take additional jewelry-making classes at Tyler School of Art, spent a summer on Jeweler’s Row in Philadelphia as a bench jeweler, and worked alongside a local jewelry artist. Eventually, I joined my parents in their antique jewelry store, where I developed a deep appreciation for different styles and craftsmanship over time.
When I initially launched Karen Jabo Jewelry, I began by creating designs from antique pieces, blending history with personal expression. Over time, I felt pulled back to silver, reconnecting with the material that first sparked my love of jewelry.
Today, my work is inspired by sculptural and architectural forms, translated into pieces that are both wearable and distinctive. I design jewelry for everyday life, simple enough for daily wear, yet bold enough to make a statement.
Seeing someone wear my work is always a thrill. Knowing that something I’ve made brings joy to another person is truly the best part of what I do.
